One owner, one truck, and eight years of lights. This is the story of how a fireman’s side job became the lighting company neighbors pass along by name.
My name is Verulo Munoz, and I’m the owner of Firehouse Landscape Lighting Design.
I’ve been a fireman my whole life. One day a friend at the station asked me to help with some Christmas lights, and while I was up on that ladder, something clicked. I was starting a family, most of the guys at the station ran a second business, and I knew at some point I’d have to do something. That night I went to bed thinking about starting a business.
That was eight years and thousands of lights ago. I made a plan, saved my pennies, and started with nothing more than my truck and a few tools.
Firefighting taught me the things I run this company on: show up, pay attention to the details, and serve the people counting on you. There aren’t two ways to put out a fire. There’s only one way. Finish what you started.
I’m also a husband and a father, and my family is my biggest motivation. This business is the legacy I’m building for them, which is why I run it the way I’d want someone to treat my own home.
I started Firehouse with one goal: outdoor lighting that makes a home more beautiful, safer, and easier to enjoy. Good lighting is more than brightness. It changes how your home feels at night. Whether it’s landscape lighting, holiday lights, or a permanent system, I design around your home’s character, not a package.
