Expert floor repair and refinishing that restores beauty, durability, and lasting value to your space.
Our idea of a happy holiday is not having to worry about lights. We bring the strands with us, hang them on your roofline, and haul them away until next year. You pick the look. We do the climbing.
Most people don’t dread the lights themselves. They dread the ladder, the tangled totes in the attic, and the cold January Saturday when the strands are still up and the whole street has noticed. We’re the ones who take all three off your plate.
What You Actually Have to Do
Answer the door and tell us what you want. That’s the entire homeowner job.
We start with a design walkthrough at your house, usually in early fall. We measure the eaves, count peaks and dormers, find your outdoor outlets, and ask what you’re picturing. Warm white along the front only? Color on the ridgeline runs, with wreaths and garland at the entry? You say it, and we’ll price it and schedule it. Holiday lighting made easy comes down to that trade. You make the calls, and we carry the ladders.
Store-Bought Strands Never Fit a Real Roofline
Retail light sets come in fixed lengths. Your roof doesn’t.
That mismatch is why so many self-installed displays sag in one spot and bunch up in another. We bring our own LED strands, and we cut them to the run. A 41-foot eave gets 41 feet of light, and there’s no leftover tail bunched at the corner. Custom-cut strands are the difference between a display that looks measured and one that looks improvised from whatever was left in the box.
Most of our roofline work uses C9 bulbs, the big cone-shaped ones that run about an inch and an eighth. They read clean from the curb, and that’s what matters on a deep lot. ENERGY STAR reports that certified LED light strings draw roughly 92 percent less energy than incandescent sets and stay cool to the touch. On a two-story front with a few hundred feet of run, that adds up over six weeks.
The Ladder Is Why Most People Call Somebody
Height is the whole reason this work gets hired out. Nobody’s paying a crew to plug in a strand.
“There are about 250 injuries a day during the holiday season. Adding safety to your checklist can keep a holiday tradition from becoming a holiday tragedy.”
Robert Adler, Acting Chairman of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, on holiday decorating injuries
The federal count behind that statement put falls at 34 percent of all holiday decorating injuries treated in emergency departments. A wet composition roof in December is slick, and a gutter lip is not a handhold. Our owner spent years as a firefighter before he started this company in 2018, and he isn’t casual about working at height.
Your Roofline Decides the Plan
Two houses on the same street won’t take the same amount of time. Pitch and access drive the whole schedule.
What we look at on the walkthrough
That last one matters more here than in most metros. Master-planned communities in Cypress and The Woodlands hold real architectural control over anything you attach to the outside of a house. The approval step goes easier when the plan’s drawn in October instead of December.
What Goes Up on Install Day
Three things happen on every job, no matter how much roofline you’ve got.
The clip rule isn’t fussiness. The May 2024 derecho pushed winds near 100 mph across the Houston area, and anything staple-gunned to a fascia board comes off in weather like that. It usually takes a strip of wood with it.
Before the truck leaves, we walk the property after dark and check every run lit. Aim, spacing, and dead bulbs all show up at night and almost never in daylight.
Where Do-It-Yourself Displays Go Wrong
Most of the failures we get called on trace back to the same handful of shortcuts.
Mistakes we see every November
January Is the Part Nobody Plans For
Ask about takedown when you book the install. Most removals happen in January, once the season winds down.
The strands come down, the clips come off the roof, and the whole set leaves with us. We check the strands and pack them before they’re stored, so next season doesn’t start with a guessing game in somebody’s attic.
Then the set stays with us until you want it back up, which is the quiet part that saves the most grief. This area sees close to 50 inches of rain a year, and relative humidity sits in the mid-70s most months. Sockets and connectors corrode in a damp garage or a swampy attic faster than anything the weather does to them outdoors. Our christmas light removal and storage service keeps them out of that. You get your attic back, and the strands ride out the humid months somewhere dry.
Booking, Lifts, and the Homes Ladders Can’t Reach
Book early. Peak dates on the christmas light installation calendar go to whoever called first, and the weekends right after Thanksgiving are the first to disappear.
Access is the other scheduling factor. Tall estate rooflines in the older Woodlands villages often need boom lift access rather than a ladder. So do the newer two-story rooflines going up across Tomball and Cypress. We own the lift, so that capability doesn’t cost us a rental scramble in peak season.
One job in The Woodlands is the example we keep coming back to. The second floor sat about 20 feet back from anywhere a ladder could stand, so there was no safe angle from the ground. We brought the lift in and laid plywood across the grass first so the outriggers wouldn’t rut the lawn. The run went up clean, and the yard looked untouched when we pulled out.
Still Deciding? Start With the Walkthrough
If you’re not sure what you want, that’s normal, and it’s not a reason to wait. Tell us the front of the house should look finished and we’ll bring options. If your eave line is straight and newer, ask about permanent eave-mounted RGBW LED systems while we’re there, since a clean fascia is the easy case for those. If you already own strands you love, say so and we’ll work around them.
We’ve been doing this since 2018, which is eight seasons of northwest Houston rooflines. Firehouse is family-owned and owner-operated, so the person who walks your property is the person on the job. We’re insured, estimates are free, there’s no trip fee, and the work carries a satisfaction guarantee. We’re reachable seven days a week, 7am to 9pm, and you’ll hear back from us by the next day.
Call or text (346) 615-8333 and we’ll get your walkthrough on the calendar.
