I’ve been a fireman my whole life until one day a friend at the station asked me to help with some Christmas lights.
The job went well, but while I was up on that ladder, something clicked.
Most of the guys at the station either had a second job or ran a business. At the time, I was starting a family, and I knew at some point I’d have to do something.
But what?
That’s where the click comes in. I’ve always been handy, but nothing really grabbed me until I hung those lights. That night I went to bed thinking about starting a business.
That was eight years and thousands of lights ago.
I made a plan, saved my pennies, and got started with nothing more than my truck and a few tools. Now we’re doing big jobs, lots of projects, and people book us months in advance.
I owe a lot to my training as a fireman. It’s not just about climbing ladders; it’s about making sure the job is done right. There aren’t two ways to put out a fire; there’s only one way.
Finish what you started.
It sounds simple, but I can’t tell you how many times I’ve fixed jobs started by bigger companies who left a mess or just stopped showing up.
What I’m getting at is we don’t believe in doing things halfway.
For us, that starts with easy appointments. From the moment you call until the moment we’re cleaning up, we get the job done without any headaches.
We’re serious about easy.
I’m not kidding about the easy part. Our holiday and event service comes with lights so you’ll never have to deal with big boxes filled with a tangled mess of wires.
If your project calls for something more permanent, we’ll work with you on the design, sell you the lights, and stand behind the work for years.
No matter how big or small your lighting project is, we’ll show up, treat you like family, and make your neighbors a little jealous.
Maybe that’s why we’re growing every year, and people don’t hesitate to share our number. Either way, we sure are grateful for your business, and while we may not be the biggest or have the fanciest fancy I can tell you one thing for sure.
Nobody cares more about making you happy.
Sincerely,

Maybe it’s time for better lighting
Did you know?
When electric Christmas lights first reached the market over a century ago, they were so costly and tricky to wire that many families rented them for the season, installer included. So paying a pro to hang your lights isn’t new, it’s the original way.
Common Landscape Lighting Questions
Questions & Answers
Who owns Firehouse Landscape Lighting Design?
Firehouse Landscape Lighting Design is owned by Verulo Munoz, a former firefighter who started the company in Hockley in 2018. He runs the jobs personally, so customers deal with the owner, not a salesperson or a rotating crew. The firefighter background shows up as a service-first, show-up-when-you-say approach. It’s a family-owned, locally-owned business.
How did a firefighter end up in the Hockley lighting business?
It started in 2018 as a favor, hanging holiday lights, and grew into a full lighting company based in Hockley. The owner came to lighting from firefighting, not from another lighting outfit, and brought the same service and safety mindset with him. Word of mouth turned a handful of rooftops into steady work. The name Firehouse stuck from there.
How long has Firehouse been in business around Hockley?
Firehouse has been lighting homes since 2018, which is 8 years of hands-on work around Hockley and northwest Houston. That’s real time spent learning local soil, tree canopy, and HOA rules. We’ve seen what Texas heat, humidity, and storms do to outdoor lighting, and we build for it. Experience like that shows up in how a system holds up.
What does owner-operated actually mean for me?
It means the owner of Firehouse shows up on your Hockley job, from the first walkthrough to the final fixture aim. There are no rotating crews, no subcontractors, and no call center between you and the person doing the work. The one who quotes your job is the one who stands behind it. You get the same face and consistent workmanship every visit.
Is Firehouse insured?
We’re a fully insured lighting company, and in Texas that matters more than a license for this work. Firehouse carries liability insurance on every Hockley job to protect your home and property. The state doesn’t require an electrician’s license for low-voltage landscape lighting, so we lean on insurance and hand any line-voltage work to a licensed electrician. We’re glad to explain exactly what we handle.
Can Firehouse reach a roofline in the Houston area that other crews can’t?
Yes. Firehouse owns and uses a boom lift, which reaches tall rooflines and deep setbacks that ladders can’t. On one Woodlands job, a second floor sat about 20 feet back, so we worked from the lift and laid plywood on the grass to keep the lawn from rutting. That reach helps on two-story Hockley homes and estate elevations. It’s a real capability, not a claim.
Why is the company called Firehouse?
The name comes from the owner’s firefighting career, which came before the lighting business in Hockley. It stands for showing up, following through, and taking safety seriously on every job. Those habits carried straight over from the fire service. The name is a promise about how we work.
What can I expect when I hire Firehouse?
You can expect a free estimate, an honest plan, and the owner of Firehouse on your Hockley property doing the work. We walk the site, often show a night demo, then install clean and check every fixture once it’s lit. Because Texas heat, humidity, and storms are hard on outdoor lighting, we build for them from the start. If something isn’t right, our satisfaction guarantee means we fix it, and there’s no trip fee.
